My Launch Story

As a small business owner and a mentor to others who want to start their own businesses, people always ask me “how did you become an entrepreneur?” They probably expect to hear the nuts and bolts stuff about the five plus businesses I’ve had but somehow I feel compelled to tell the story of how I caught my insatiable entrepreneurial spirit when I was only ten years old--and it all started with a hot dog truck…

It is Time to Emerge from the Shadows!

At this moment in history, the voices and unique skills of highly sensitive people are needed more than ever.

Dr. Elaine Aron, who wrote the groundbreaking book “The Highly Sensitive Person”, describes people like you and me as the “royal advisor class.”  She explains that we are the creators, the explorers, and the peaceful protectors of society.

We are the voices of reason, empathetic to the needs around us and have the wonderful ability of seeing the big picture.  We also have the gift of being able to pause and reflect before acting—something many others in our culture do not seem to possess.

Bullying and the Highly Sensitive Person...How we can deal with it

Recently I received a legal nasty gram accusing me of infringing on someone's trademark.  In plain speak, someone told me I could not talk or write about highly sensitive people who are also entrepreneurs. I was aghast as I read this overly strong legal letter with paragraphs full of demands, and words like substantial damage and injury.  Oh my gosh, you would think I set this person's house on fire!

Calling all HSP's. I'm coming out of hiding...Will you join me?

So I have been tip toeing around this topic for a while now. I feel it is important, particularly in this moment in time, for me to fully step out of my comfort zone and declare--I AM A HIGHLY SENSITIVE PERSON. This may not come as a surprise to those of you who know me well, but for many others it will.  I've been planning my "coming-out" party for a long time --about 10 years.  But something always held me back from truly embracing my whole sensitive self.

Perfectionism-The Dream Killer

Our sensitivity to subtle details and our great visionary, planning and fine-tuning ability are a great strength.  Many of us are overachievers and set the bar very high in all that we do.  So high that we tend to get stuck in fine-tuning and tweaking mode and never get our great work out into the world.

Where's your Pepper??? Life Lessons from my Grandma Edith

When I was a kid, I had the great honor of having my Grandmother live with us for a few years. It wasn't until now that I realized how many life lessons she taught me.  On the outside, she was this cute little Italian lady, with a warm smile and twinkly eyes, and dressed in a comfy floral housecoat. She liked reading and sipping tea at our kitchen table.

But on the inside, she was a force to be reckoned with...

What to do when you outgrow your vision for your business

"Sometimes you just have to burn down the barn to see the moon." ZEN Quote.

I am a gal that always has a plan. For years, it was a boring spreadsheet with daily to-dos that outlined what I needed to accomplish in business and in life. My ability to map out next steps and check off little boxes made me feel really productive most days. But then I realized productivity is NOT the same thing as inspiration.

When Women Gather

Earlier this year I had the AMAZING opportunity to retreat with my mentorship group and mentor extraordinaire Jennifer Lee, founder and author of the The Right Brain Business Plan and Building Your Business the Right-Brain Way. Three days filled with deep reflection and connection with a soulful group of women that held some powerful sacred space for me to go deep and really tap into why I became an entrepreneur and how I want to show up in this world.
